Financial Pressure
Talking about pressure….today I had to attack the largest pressure producing machine, of course known as financial management. However, before I get to that I have to admit right off the bat that I am not a numbers person. I don’t know why but, if you show me a picture of a number I break out in a cold sweat and hives. Unfortunately this is the problem with most individuals. When we feel we don’t have the ability to do something we tend to not do it, leading to (in some cases) financial or social ruin.
So even though the pressure is mounting and we feel like we just can’t take it anymore, focus is key. First step, don’t be afraid of the problem because hiding from it does not make it go away. Step two; start giving the picture some focus. What are the things that need your immediate attention and what are the things that can wait. Step 3; break each focus area into smaller workable pieces that you can manage and that do not cause high amounts of anxiety.
To me, that is most probably the hardest thing to do…knowing where to start. If you know where to start and what needs to be done the rest is very simple, get off your bum and do it. This is also the biggest struggle people face and continually ask me: “Yolanda where do I start?” unfortunately I do not have the blueprint to your life to guide you step by step but, in my opinion the first stem would be making the choice to do something about it, then do some research and start “scratching” in your life to see what needs to be done.
Well if you would excise me I have to follow my own advice and learn more about financial management.
