Play => Fun => Laughter
In ‘The Sound of Music’ Julie Andrews sings about her favourite things.
The song was sung in a scene where Maria took the children up the mountain to play. As the boys were playing ball everyone relaxed and when that happened, laughter followed.
I don’t know how it works, but when I play athletics on Xbox with my brother’s kids I really get involved in the game. Playing it is fun and we all laugh at each other for not jumping in time or not running fast enough. The laughter fills the living room and soon the whole family plays together! They either join the game or shout encouragement: Jump! Jump! JUMP, Boeta!
When it’s time to go home we all feel so relaxed and it’s all because we laughed.
Playing is also a great way to learn something new, because there is no pressure. In dance class all the couples attending are on the same level, so we learn together in a fun environment. Sometimes we laugh so much at our partners because we remember their steps instead of our own. After dancing we are so relaxed that we sometimes stay on for just five more minutes, just for the fun of it.
I have decided to take on hip hop dancing. It is not my style at all but I’ll fake it till I make it! I’ll probably make a fool of myself in the corner, but I will laugh at myself. And I’ll get it right! I look forward to leaving the studio knowing that I started playing the game of hip hop dancing
