Practicing what I preach!
One thing I am absolutely sure of is that I have taken this month’s theme of EXERCISE to heart. I decided to put my money where my mouth is and made an appointment to do some EXERCISE with some of my friends. I arrived at the studio round about 6 last night very excited to get my EXERCISE on. I was ready and prepared, armed with my water bottle and cycling tights I have had since my father went through his ‘I want to run the comrades phase’. I was on a mission, so we got started, first we had a little warm up run which was not that bad, but it was only downhill from there.
The instructor said in a very exciting voice “today we will be doing a ladder”. I had absolutely no idea what that was, but as soon as I sow the absolute dread on the other people’s faces I knew whatever it was it cannot be good. The ‘ladder’ consisted of 70 jumping jacks, 60 mountain climbers, 50 squats, 40 crunches, 30 kettle bells, 20 push-ups, 10 burpies and a 100 meter sprint. As I did the first set I was still okay, but by the second ladder I heard a voice screaming in my head “abort mission, abort mission”. I made it through, I hung in there. Yes, I probably look like a new born calf because my muscles hate me right now, but I did it.
If I can do it you have NO excuse so today get some physical exercise, granted it might not be the funnest thing you have ever done, but is necessary n fighting depression and an absolute must for a health mind and body!
