Strenght
Before I started training my body was weak and didn’t have a lot of strength. I couldn’t carry two liter Cokes in a grocery bag; it was too heavy for me. My family (except me) can play instruments and are often asked to provide entertainment at parties. Many things need to be set up like speakers, amplifiers, guitars, etc. I can’t carry any of these. I could carry the guitar- and mike stands, and cables: all the small things.
I’ve been looking after people’s houses over the holiday seasons for seven years. My job is to look after their pets and make sure everything is all right in- and outside the house. Many houses have locks or gates that have a trick to open it. Sometimes I need to lift it up, pull or push or even use force. Before I started training, my body didn’t have the strength to open some of these gates. There would be days that it was easy and others when I felt too tired and weak and couldn’t open them at all.
Then I started training for the 94.7. I gained strength little by little. In December 2014, I had a new client whose gate would open automatically only halfway; the rest of the way you needed to push because the motor gear would slip. At first I would use my shoulder strength together with my arms and legs to push it open. But then one day I was daydreaming, and without thinking about it, I gripped the gate with my right hand and pulled it so hard that it almost went off the track. I shouted: I have strength!
From then on I noticed that there were many things I could do that I couldn’t do before.
Through training, my body has gained strength and can now keep up with things that I want to do without wondering whether I will be able to.
