LEWENSLIG: Daddy

In Lewenslig, there is a man that is nearly fifty years old but still has the mind of a boy.  He calls Marius, the supervisor, daddy.  Every day he would tell his friends how much he loves him.  He would say: ‘I love my daddy; there isn’t anything that I wouldn’t do for him; if someone wants to hurt him they would have to come past me first!’  When Marius calls him to do something, whether it is to make coffee or fetching something from the center, he would jump up and say: ‘Yes, daddy! I will do it right away!’
He told me that the other day he went to the shops with his dad and someone greeted him, but he was frightened so he ran to his dad to hide behind him, because he knew his dad would protect him.

The passion that this man has for his dad is unbelievable!  He would really do anything for his dad.  Marius is no relation of his.  He is the supervisor and housemaster, but that doesn’t bother him.  Marius is his daddy and nothing will ever change that.

This made me think about God the Father.  He is my heavenly Father and I asked myself how often I say the things this boy does: I love my Dad; He is my everything; there is nothing I wouldn’t do for Him.  And run to Him for protection.  When I’m afraid of situations and don’t know where to run to, I should run to my Dad who created the universe and hide behind Him! Who can pass Him to get to me?

I started to praise Him in that manner:  ‘Daddy, I love you!  You are so good to me!  Where would I be if it weren’t for You!’ Since I have put these words in my heart and on my lips, I have felt the difference in my spiritual growth!
