Things to practice everyday
As world mental health day is coming closer, we are once again on our toes organizing an amazing event (it is going to be a good one). However, these preparations always get me thinking and the thought/question that popped up today was an interesting one…. is life really this hard, or are we making it harder than it has to be? No, really think about it, in terms of spirituality if every person in the world was able to follow 10 simple rules there would be no war, and none of these negative things we face on a daily basis. This is very much part and parcel of what we are doing for mental health day. How to practically take something that is a very complex and difficult thing and make it workable in your life?
It is based on the age old question: how do you eat an elephant??? Well, one bite at a time. So this week we are going to look at some practical, everyday things you can implement to make your life better.
The first: one thing that we should try and practice every day is the art of being mindful. For many this might seem like a very “out there” concept, but all it really means is being in the moment. For example what are the things around you? What colours do you see? By doing this we stop our minds from racing into the future or dwelling on a negative past. If you are able to make this a part of your life, you start taking control of the negative aspects. What are some of the things you do to be mindful in your everyday?
