What makes the sun come up?
What makes the sun come up?? Too often I hear how people have lost their faith, not just in humanity and the world but in God. And I get that, I so often feel that I have no faith and that faith is a luxury in this world that so many of us can ill afford. Faced with doom and gloom, corruption, war and poverty around almost every bend, how does one hold on to faith?
But I have faith. Sure I don’t always think so, and I might displace it so often, but I have faith that the sun will come up tomorrow. The chill in the air is a reminder of the coming winter and I have faith that the seasons will change. I have faith that crops will grow, and therefore I will have food.
Spiritually we all stumble; we may even fall or get completely lost, but the sun has no worries if he will shine tomorrow, the swallow is not too worried about where his next meal will come from, the trees have no worries about losing their leaves and the flowers do not think about how they will bloom in the spring. Humans worry, we worry about money, we compare ourselves to most people we come across, and lose precious sleep because we are not as smart or pretty as the next person.
But, does the cherry blossom compare his petals to the one growing next to him? No, because he is too busy blooming himself to notice! Take a minute to see the world around you, see nature, as it is a gift and a promise. Do you have faith that the sun will shine tomorrow?
