A great achievement
When I started riding bicycle in 2002, I would never dare to even think of letting go of the handle bars because as soon as either hand left the bar, I was guaranteed to fall. I made sure that my grip was tight. However, this meant there was no way of drinking water. I had to stop, drink water and continue. Even with the water bag on my back, it was still risky to remove my hand. I had to learn to let go and grab the water nozzle. Continue “A great achievement”
67min of feeling good……Happy Mandela day!
People may forget what you have said or even what you have done, but they will never forget how you made them feel! This has not rung any truer on any other day than what it does today on Mandela Day. It is wonderful and noble to help others as is the spirit of Mandela day, but think for a moment which version of you will be able to sustain helping others, the rundown, burnt out, depressed, tired you or the happy, balanced, healthy, vibrant you?
It is just a (not so) manic Monday!
Today is yet another Monday and what a difficult Monday it was!! I felt like I had no energy, like there is a mountain of fog in my brain that just does not want to leave me be. Have you ever had one of these days?? So in true Monday fashion most of my work became tomorrow’s problem……
Some inalienable truths
As we grow up we have to except some inalienable truths, and one of these truths we will never be able to escape is loss. Losing people in your life to death becomes more of a reality the older you get. However, I am not just talking about the loss you suffer after the death of a loved one, I am also talking about the losses we suffer from losing our childhood dreams. That dreaded moment when you realize you will not be an astronaut, a Hollywood actress, a springbok rugby player, the next bill gates or Ryan Goslings wife. You realize you are just another average.
Every bit helps
After yesterday’s post it was kindly pointed out to me by my office roommate (he who shall not be named) that I may be a little on the negative side. I am well aware of this fact and to date I have done nothing about this, however I have realized that at some point a need to make a decision I can either continue with this negativity or deal with it.
Happy times
O how I love birthdays…Today was just another reminder that even though times can be hard and every day stressors do take their toll, we need to take time out to celebrate the little things in life. So just want to wish our boss Dr. Bezuidenhout and Vista CEO Mr Louw a very happy birthday and thank them for sharing their birthdays with all of us. Happy Birthday!!
Update by Deon Labuschagne
On Monday I went to Pretoria to see my doctors for a follow up. Both of them were very pleased with my progress. I told my psychiatrist thati’m actually looking forward to August because it will be a all different ball game than the previous years. This year I am have a clear purpose. I can’t stop with my training just because I don’t feel up to it. If I stop my training for a whole month just so I can rest and take things easy all my training will be in vain. Apart from my health. I also need to train for seventy kilometers and I’ll be facing the strong winds that come with August. Talking to Rochelle about this she said that we should also be careful not to push myself to far, because it might lead to a burnout.
Happy birthday to me! – Poem by Deon Labuschagne
Today I’m only thinking of me!
Highlighting all the good qualities
and celebrating them!
