What happens when you are tired of feeling tired??

What happens when you are tired of feeling tired???……Okay let me backtrack here a little bit. Today was (once again) one of those busy days where you have no idea if you are Arthur or Marthur, your mind has to be in a hundred places at once. I thought this will be a good topic for today’s blog, talking about how you have to be careful not to burn out and so on. Then I realised I have been singing this tune for way too long, yes it is busy and yes the demands of life can really take the motivation right out of you, but if I am constantly talking about how busy I am and have time for nothing…..that starts to define me that is who I become.

The beauty in art!

I have never really thought of myself as an “art” person. Don’t get me wrong I do appreciate art and every now and again I like pretending I know what it is all about, being all hoity toity. I like things that are beautiful of course, but sometimes people want to pass something off as “art” that I simply just don’t get….never mind get sometimes it is downright UGLY!! So with my theme of beauty this week I had to really look into all shapes and forms of beauty and one of them is art.

The beauty in you!!

Last but not least, to be able to find the beauty in yourself is the best gift you can ever give yourself. So many times we look in the mirror and judge ourselves, we only look at the things we don’t like about ourselves and think this is a true reflection of who we are.

the second thing

The second:  The second simple thing we need to do on a daily basis is, SAY NO!! Yes, say no. During the past week a lady asked me a very troublesome question. She asked me how will she ever be able to be kind, but not be a push over or how will she ever be able to be assertive without being labelled a bully or aggressive? And it was almost like unison how everyone in the group really wanted to know the answer, as if they themselves have been searching for the answer to this question for way too long.

Perceptions

I have very often thought of what others think of me. Unfortunately for so long I have thought that this is actually important. That I have to be the one that everyone likes, I have to be the one that has all the answers, the one with the most friends. However, as I have matured I found that if you allow others’ opinion to form who you are, you might not one day recognise the picture you have become. It is not about how many friend you have, at one stage I was surrounded with friend a room filled with them and I have never felt so alone but, now that I know what it is not about I can’t seem to answer the question you are all asking right now……What is it about?

The enemy of many

We live in a world full of pain, illness and heart break. No literally heart break as in heart disease, but over the past decade people have become more aware of their heart health and just more aware of their health in general, however I deal with a silent killer everyday one that people are not so open to talk about…….Mood disorders. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) there are 380 million people suffering from depression. Depression affects people from all walks of life and has a profound affect on all aspects of  the sufferers life. Depression is an enemy of many  and I think it is time we get to know the enemy.

Week of rest

Even though I didn’t feel well, I still wanted to continue training, but my mom reminded me that I should be aware of burnout if I push myself too far.  I contacted my psychiatrist and he said that I had good intentions, but he liked my mom’s proposal.  He suggested that I take a week or two off for a complete break from cycling.  It will do the body good and give it time to recover. Now I had enough time on my hands to take morning or afternoon naps.  These were needed because I could feel my body was tired and it needed the rest.  I did go to gym but only cycled at a low tempo and did some passive-aggressive exercises (circling movements to loosen the head, shoulders, chest, core, hips, upper legs and feet).
